I created this website using RapidWeaver on the mac-mini.
This was incredibly quick and easy, even compared to
Dreamweaver MX which I used to use. The only drawback, I
think, is that the html is less easy to modify if you want
to. But for the most part I probably won't want to. I had
given up on my previous website because I never got the
time to update it.
However, this website may go the same way as my old
websites and stagnate a bit if I run out of time. So I've
included links to my most active blog here :
Research Essentials is a collaborative
blog that I maintain with my fellow researcher
Rebecca. We originally planned it as a resource for
researchers, but its evolved into our reflections on
the academic environment. We’re posting about our
experiences, recently the preparation and actuality of
writing a thesis and sitting a PhD viva. I think we're
also posting our reflections on academic life,
technology advances and general university and
research-related subjects. We'll see how that goes.
The Connected Peasant is a blog about
my non-research related interests, keeping chickens,
growing vegetables, aiming for a more self-sustaining
life. The name arose when I was chatting to my husband
about this trend, of which we are a part, for people
to become more connected with the land, seasons, food
they eat. He suggested that we seemed to be trying to
recreate the life of peasants and I replied that we
were connected peasants, connected via the internet. I
suppose this relates to my research interests in a
way, as it links to how people are using technology to
connect up online. Still, if you like chickens, you
may find this blog interesting.
